Every start of the year, it’s been a tradition on Dropping In, Dropping Out blog to look back on what have transpired in the previous year, i.e, 2010. This is more of a personal view on instances which somehow made an impact on me during the year 2010. So here it is…
1. Noynoy Aquino’s presidency. This was pretty much the very first big story of 2010- having a new president. The Filipinos are very optimistic that he’ll be able to make a difference. He still has 5 years to prove that, so we’ll see.
2. The Quirino Hostage Incident. This was a shocking news and for several weeks I was very affected to the point of being not too proud being a Filipino. This was the instance when we were able to earn a spot in the “hall of shame” list of other countries.
3. BAR exam goes MCQ’s. This one is more personal as this change affects only me, my classmates and other thousands of law students and legal professionals in the country. This transition is really a headache since we only have less than a year to prepare for it. Hopefully, we’d be able to get past this challenge in our quest for success.
4. Money Pacquiao won again. This entry is a regular every year. True enough, every fight of Pacquiao is always a grandeur event for Filipinos. (read: my last year’s post)
5. Webb, et al’s acquittal. I remember I was still in grade school when the news about the Vizonde massacre along with its main suspects happened. After 15 long years, the High Court made a decision acquitting them. Was justice served? That’s the big question now, isn’t it?
6. The Azkals rise to popularity. Ours is not really a football nation but with the arrival (mainly because most members of the team are half-fil and half foreign) of the Azkals, we get interested in the sport. I personally like football and its world cup craze, so the promising rise of football in the country makes me real excited. Go Azkals!
7. I started my very personal blog. With emphasis on the word “very” I made a personal blog which contain some personal information about me. It’s my online diary and just like an ordinary diary, it can only be read by me and me alone(hehe). It sort of a 10-year project, just to find out if the past 10 years of my life is interesting or not.
